LeAnne
Mak
LeAnne
was borned on September 1999. Everything was supposedly
“normal” throughout my pregnancy and she came to this
world through “normal” delivery as well. I guess I did
not know at that time what was not normal since LeAnne
is my first child!
Both Mak and I were not prepared for
what came within the next month of birth. Her head circumference
was bigger than ‘normal’. Her paediatrician referred
her for CT scans where hydrocephalus was ruled out.
However, what came next shock us. She is diagnosed with
lissencephaly. What a term! We did not know what that
was and how it all happened. After that follows rounds
and rounds of tests (blood, x-ray, chromosome, etc)
to determine what was the exact cause of it.
For
the first 2 years, we did not know what we should do
to rehabilitate her—like what most people think, we
can only wait for time to unfold and hopefully, she
will be ‘normal’ again. But, things did not happen that
way.
I did not give up at all. I searched
the internet for resources to help her. Somehow, I chanced
upon the works of Glen Doman. That spiraled into a chain
reaction to where I am today. I am indeed grateful that
I did not give up on my daughter. I guess it is probably
God’s will as well.
At
this current age of 6, she still does not have many
abilities as compared to her peers but she is progressing
albeit slowly. In fact, for the past 3 years, she has
progressed much more than the first 3 years of her life.
I attribute this to the alternative therapies that I
have done with her. The therapies that I am currently
doing with her are ABR, HBOT (on & off!), cell salts,
acupuncture
I will continue along the same path
with her; continuing to search for alternatives to help
her further her potential, as long as my finances allow
me to do so.
